Remote

Whilst touring through Iceland recently on a six day photo expedition with some friends I took the traditional landscape shots I would normally take. Wide-angle, with some panoramic, and letting the scenery tell it’s own story more or less. However, during the journey I developed a sense of isolation and peaceful solitude.
Iceland is not very populous and during this off-peak season there weren’t many tourists either. The further away we got from Reykjavik the further it seemed we were from civilisation. It seemed as if we would pass a solitary farmhouse or shelter every 30 miles or so usually at the base of a hill or mountain. On a straight empty road and not much else but the wondrous open landscape around each building felt more and more remote from the next.
Here is a series of photos taken from my main Iceland library that show some of these isolated scenes. Most of the buildings are fairly obvious to spot but a couple will need a much closer look.
You can view the rest of my Iceland photos in the Iceland by Camera album, and more still at icelandbycamera.com.
